Middle School Physical Education
Students are expected not only to dress but give their best effort on a daily basis. A daily grade of "5" represents the highest score a student can earn, its punctuality, effort, and Dressing in appropriate clothing for exercising. Periodically students will be physically tested using a variety of locomotor skills at the beginning and again at the end the marking period. It is important to note that the student will NOT be graded on the specific number or time of the physical test BUT rather the overall improvement from the beginning to the end. Students will also be involved daily with exercising their hearts. Students will also learn and participate in team sport activities. Students will also engage in team sports and be introduced to cross fit exercises. Students will also once a week travel to the H.S. weight room and engage in strength training exercises with LIGHT weight only and sets of ten rep.'s. Proper form and technique will be stressed and closely monitored. Research has proven that pre-teens and teens do benefit from strength training with additional weight as long as it is kept light. The benefits also include confidence and promotes positive self esteem.
